Characters
In terms of characters for my film, I want the main character which will be featured to be a young adult because I think that this will be more relevant to my target audience because it will allow them to relate more. I want this character to initially be shown as strong and slowly make the vulnerability of the character develop throughout some aspects of the trailer to display a transition in character development.
In terms of the protagonist, I don't want to feature them too much in the trailer because I think that this will build on the tension and suspense and this would be a method of attracting and gripping the audience with interest.

- I have decided that the character in my trailer will have very simple costumes and they aren't going to be too different from everyday costumes because I think that protagonists in psychological thrillers don't usually wear extravagant costumes.
- The colours of the costumes will be very minimal as I want to convey the mood and the tone of the psychological thriller genre.

Props
I don't plan on using many 'unique' props such as guns, knives etc because the theme of my trailer isn't going to focus on violence but instead the psychological aspect so I am hoping to utilise the objects which are already in the locations I film at to make it look more natural.
Also I don't want to include these more intense props because I think that it will cause issues because I would need to make sure that people are aware that they would be for coursework purposes.

Locations
I currently have an idea of a couple of possible locations which I plan to use for my filming. I have taken into consideration that these locations need to emphasise the genre of the film trailer, so I think that they will have to be quite isolated and be quite dingy because this will really set the mood for a thriller film. So the locations which I am going to primarily use is going to be an enclosed woodland area, churchyards and also portions of a park, however because this location may feature brightly coloured aspects which won't convey the atmosphere which I need so I am going to need to use some filters or colour saturation during the editing process to create the more eerie atmosphere.
Psychological Thriller Moodboard
I have researched further into the specific genre i have chosen by creating a moodboard of various different images of shots, lighting, characters etc which are common representations of this genre.

BBFC Ratings Controversy
In the recent years of film, there have been many occasions where issues have arisen regarding the age rating of a film.
For example the 2012 film 'The Woman In Back' starring Daniel Radcliffe, became a major issue amongst the audience, especially parents as they felt that the content of the film was inappropriate and "too scary" for a 12 audience which is the certificate given to the film by the BBFC.
As of July 2012, the film has received over 120 complaints regarding the ratings issue, which is 3 times the amount which Darren Aronofsky's 2011 film Black Swan, which was again another film which received complaints due to content and age rating.
So this shows that to avoid any issues amongst the audience, the age rating needs to be chosen very carefully to ensure that the content complies with the given rating.

"The censor, which doesn't normally release information about complaint levels until the full year has played out, told THR the Radcliffe starrer has already drawn 120 complaints, an unusually high level."
"Last year's most moaned about movie in the U.K. was Black Swan for which the BBFC received a third less complaints."

BBFC Film Ratings
I have decided to research the official BBFC ratings because I am going to need to know what content is applicable to each individual age rating, so that the rating I give for my trailer is accurate and appropriate towards these guidelines.

Target Audience
My chosen target audience for my film trailer is going to be mainly teenagers through to adults of both genders because thrillers aren’t commonly made to appeal to a specific gender, so the film would probably be of a 12 rating, because I think that this is generally the main audience which is mostly attracted to thriller films.
